Lovely little kit with six varieties of herbs

This is a lovely little kit and would be a nice gift for someone. You get little matchbox sized packets containing seed sticks for various types of herbs. You pop them in soil up to the line indicated on the stick and wait for germination to occur (obviously water too). They’re so convenient and you get six varieties of herbs they’re good value for money. The pack they come in is slim and perfect to pop into the post as a gift. The packaging and design is really pretty, eye catching and makes it look like a quality item. Germination and growing speed will be updated once they’ve had a chance to sprout.I’ll be keeping them on the kitchen windowsill where they’ll be kept away from the inconsistent temperatures of spring. This is a value for money kit that is perfect for a beginner looking to grow some nice smelling herbs.

Nearly perfect for beginners

I've just started out getting my garden to the state where I can plant and grow plants, especially vegetables, but in reality I don't really know what I'm doing. So being able to get seeds for some useful plants, in a set designed for beginners, seems like a great selling point. The plants seem especially well chosen to be easy to grow and last a long time which is a lot of the problem as faced with a huge selection of varieties of even one plant I don't know what to choose. There's no problem knowing how to plant them as you just push the cardboard stick into the soil to the shown depth. They don't seem bad price-wise either, compared to other packets of seeds - you get six different types of plant with 10 seed sticks per plant. In a packet you might get 200 seeds and all these varieties would cost more than this set. So it's good value. However, as a kit that seems designed for beginners, there are some things they could do to improve. There are no labels for the seeds, so I don't know what is what. I can get a load of plastic labels and use them, but each seed stick could be labelled with the plant (or a code A-F to identify it) to save the extra writing. They're even printing on the sticks anyway! So that would help. Then there are no real instructions on much more than 'push into the ground and wait this many days'. What sort of soil? Does it matter? What size pots? Are the plants actually edible? It's sold as a 'Herbal Tea Kit' - so can I actually make tea with these once they're grown? So many questions which could have been easily answered with just a sheet of paper or even - these days - a link to a web site.Love the idea, the innovative idea works well (let's see how and if they grow!) and very easy for beginners to get started, but could do with a little bit more help please!

nice and easy

These Seedsticks are available in lots of different varieties and I opted for the Tea Garden set, which includes herbs such as rosemary, peppermint, thyme, chamomile and more. They arrived nicely presented in a letterbox-style box and would also make a lovely gift. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, making them very beginner friendly. You get 10 sticks per pack across 6 varieties, so 60 sticks in total. The sticks come joined in strips and are easy to tear apart. I really like the concept as you literally just stick them into the soil, making planting simple and much less messy than loose seeds. All in all, it was a really nice activity to do with the kids and most of the herbs sprouted well. We didn’t have much luck with the chamomile, though I suspect that was more down to us overwatering it than the product itself. Overall, a fun and easy way to get growing, especially for families or beginners.

Seedsticks Tea Garden Grow Your Own Herbal Tea Kit

Such a great idea and so simple, especially for beginners or younger growers. These 'Seedsticks' make planting simple and mess-free and each stick contains carefully spaced seeds for precise planting while acting as a visual guide to remind you exactly where your seeds have been planted. You simply tear off the packet, plant and water with no scattering, no thinning and no waste. It also means you can keep some seed for future planting as you get 10 seedsticks in the packet which is again designed to provide information you need to grow successful seeds. You get 6 packs in this herbal tea selection including Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Peppermint, Thyme, Lavender and Rosemary. The set is extremely giftable and variety is amazing, especially when the set costs £8.99 and buying packs of seeds individually would cost so much more. Such great value for money and I am looking forward to seeing the results of our planting as they develop and grow.

Lovely starter kit, but could use clearer instructions

My wife and daughters were really pleased to receive this herbal tea growing kit and were excited to get started. They decided to begin with just one stick of each variety to see how things went before planting the full set, which felt like a sensible approach. It was helpful that the sticks made it clear how deep the seeds needed to be planted, which made the initial setup easy. The range of herbs included is great and feels well thought out for making herbal teas at home. However, it would have been useful to have more detailed instructions included, such as what type of soil works best and how often the plants need watering, especially for beginners. It would also have been handy if the individual sticks were labelled, as once they’re planted it’s hard to remember which herb is which. Overall though, it’s a lovely idea and a nice gift, particularly if you’re happy to look up a bit of extra guidance online to get the most out of it.
